The following is taken from Works of the Seraphic Father St. Francis of Assisi, R. Washbourne Publishing House, 1882, pp. 248-250, with imprimatur by His Excellency William Bernard, Bishop of Birmingham. The source of this prophecy is the Opuscola or Writings of St. Francis (1623) by Fr. Luke Wadding, recognized as history’s foremost scholar and historian on St. Francis of Assisi.
“At the time of this tribulation, a man, not canonically elected, will be raised to the Pontificate, who, by his cunning, will endeavor to draw many into error…. Some preachers will keep silence about the truth, and others will trample it under foot and deny it. Sanctity of life will be held in derision even by those who outwardly profess it, for in those days Jesus Christ will send them not a true pastor, but a destroyer.”
Francis indeed has shown himself to be a destroyer; no one has pushed him into this. Contrary to what some think, it is Francis who is driving the modernist agenda in the Church and causing even some modernists to blush. He’s their scandal, not vice-versa.
Francis Different Than His Predecessors
It was different with the previous popes. They were dragged into the agenda, often against their will, and they spent much of their time fighting off the modernists, though with limited success. But they managed to uphold the pure doctrine of the Faith, whether it was Pope Paul VI with his Humanae Vitae forbidding contraception, or John Paul II with his Ordinatio Sacerdotolis forbidding women’s ordination, or Benedict XVI in his Summorum Pontificum encouraging a wider and more liberal use of the Traditional Latin Mass. But now Francis the destroyer has come along to stamp it all out because he is committed to ending Catholic Tradition and moving forward with his new “synodal” church of man.
Need we cite his bowing to idols, his denial of Christ’s miracles, his denial of eternal hell and damnation, his denial of the Virgin Mary’s role as Co-redemptrix, his sacking of loyal priests, his betrayal of the underground Church in China, his endorsement of homosexuality, his praise of LGBT priest “Fr.” James Martin, his appointment of LGBT cardinals to high positions in the Church, his collusion with homosexual collaborators, his blessing of “transgenders,” his blessing of adultery via Communion to the divorced and civilly remarried, his collusion with heretics, his praise of Martin Luther, his praise of Communists, his praise of abortionist Emma Bonino, his rewarding of abortion activist Lillian Ploumen, his collusion with U.N. abortion advocates, his destruction of John Paul II’s Pontifical Academy for Life, yea, his destruction of the Faith?
“A Non-Catholic Pope”
Archbishop Vigano was certainly on key in his July 28 statement when he said, “We have come to the point that even simple people with little knowledge of doctrinal issues understand that we have a non-Catholic pope, at least in the strict sense of the term.” He said that Francis’ apostasy “poses some problems of a canonical nature.”
Evidence of an Illegitimate Pope
Evidence of a pope “not canonically elected” would be his success in drawing “many into error,” something that has been ongoing since Francis’ election. For instance, on February 4, 2019, he signed a joint statement with the head of Egypt’s al-Azhar Mosque, which states that “diversity of religions” is “willed by God.” This blatantly contravenes the Church’s dogma that there is no salvation outside the Catholic Church, yet this heresy is now preached everywhere from the pulpit, courtesy of Francis.
There is also the issue of Francis’ ongoing collusion with U.N. globalists. On Oct. 28, 2019, the Pontifical Academy of Sciences partnered with U.N. pro-abortion advocates to pledge fidelity to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) championed by socialist rebels like George Soros and Jeffrey Sachs. The SDGs are all about making “Mother Earth” a safer place through population control and U.N. abortion activists have repeatedly been invited to the Vatican to speak to the Church concerning its “duty” to help the planet through population control (a.k.a. abortion).
And of course, the world was aghast over Francis’ idol worship in St. Peter’s Basilica during the Amazonian Synod of Oct. 2019. And now there is the latest with Francis’ iron-handed suppression of the Traditional Mass of all times. For the past eight years he has grumbled and murmured over loyal Catholics who hold to Catholic tradition and Catholic teaching, calling them “idolaters,” “disobedient,” “divisive,” and “schismatic,” thereby testifying to his own separation from the Faith. As Vigano said, Francis is a “non-Catholic pope.”
What do the Catholic Prophecies on the Great Catholic Monarch mean? How can we make sense of the prophecies. Well, in this short article, my hope is to organize the prophecies that have been shown in my other two articles on the Great Catholic Monarch and to explain those prophecies in plain English and also how they are relevant to our times.
Firstly, before the Great Catholic Monarch appears, there will be many upheavals and uprisings around the world. But, this has happened in the past and even currently, of course. What makes this period before the Great Catholic Monarch’s appearance so special is that it is not isolated. The upheavals will be local but yet universal. They will get stronger and stronger until the point that these malevolent revolutionaries would think they have won a victory against Christian morality and life. They will declare their victory and Christians worldwide would be in despondent despair not knowing which way to look for hope. Most of the prophecies point a lot towards France as the main evidence for the fall from morality and also where the greatest miseries and trials will persist.

In 1984, just before retiring at a venerable age, the diocesan Bishop of Niigata, Bishop John Shojiro Ito, in consultation with the Holy See, wrote a pastoral letter in which he recognized as being authentically of the Mother of God, the extraordinary series of events that had taken place from 1973 to 1981 in a little lay convent within his diocese, at Akita, Japan. Cardinal Ratzinger, now Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI, in June 1988, approved the Akita events as “reliable and worthy of belief”. In fact the Philippine ambassador to the Vatican, in 1998 spoke to Cardinal Ratzinger about Akita and the Cardinal: “personally confirmed to me that these two messages of Fatima and Akita are essentially the same”.
Hence, in Akita we are dealing with a Church approved intervention of the Blessed Virgin Mary as sure in this respect as Lourdes, La Salette, or Fatima.

It has been several years since I first created this post and the information is more relevant than ever. I believe that we are at the end of an age. That soon will appear a Great Catholic Monarch. I don’t believe that we are at the End of the World but that a particular age is coming to a closure.
At the close of this age, a Great Catholic is prophesied to come. The following are prophecies from Catholic saints and mystics concerning this Great Monarch.
